THE DUMMY WHO CONQUERED THE WORLD CHAPTER six : The Challenge

CHAPTER SIX: The Challenge

Karim arrived at the Ministry of Transportation the next morning, dressed in his best shirt—a white button-down his mother had sewn for him, carefully pressed and clean. He carried his father's notebook, filled with years of notes and diagrams, and a small bag of tools.

The Ministry building was imposing, all marble columns and polished floors. Karim felt a moment of intimidation, but he remembered his mother's words and straightened his shoulders. He approached the reception desk and asked to speak with someone about the truck problem.

The receptionist, a bored-looking woman, barely glanced at him. "The engineering department is on the third floor. But they're not seeing walk-ins today."

"I need to see someone about the idle control system malfunction," Karim said firmly. "I think I can help."

She sighed and made a phone call. After a few minutes, she handed him a visitor's pass. "Third floor, room 312. Engineer Mahmoud will see you. But don't get your hopes up. They've had fifty mechanics in here already, and none of them could fix it."

Karim took the elevator to the third floor, his heart pounding. Room 312 was a large office filled with blueprints and technical drawings. Behind a massive desk sat Engineer Mahmoud, a heavyset man in his forties with a stern face and expensive suit.

"You're the one who thinks he can fix our trucks?" Mahmoud asked, looking Karim up and down with obvious skepticism.

"I believe I can, sir," Karim said, trying to keep his voice steady.

Mahmoud laughed. "Son, we've had mechanics with twenty years of experience look at these systems and fail. What makes you think you can succeed?"

"Because I understand not just the mechanics, but the electronics," Karim said. "And because I've been studying idle control systems for years. May I see the technical specifications?"

Mahmoud hesitated, then slid a folder across the desk. Karim opened it and began to study the schematics, his eyes moving quickly across the diagrams. After several minutes, he looked up.

"I see the problem," he said.

Mahmoud's eyebrows rose. "You've been looking at those plans for three minutes. Our best engineers have been studying them for weeks."

"The issue is not mechanical," Karim explained, pulling out his notebook and sketching a diagram. "It's in the feedback loop of the electronic control unit. The sensor is sending incorrect data about engine temperature, which causes the idle control to overcompensate. The system is working perfectly—it's just responding to bad information."

Mahmoud stared at him. "And you can fix this?"

"Yes," Karim said. "But I need resources. I need access to the trucks. I need the strongest mechanical men to help me implement the solution. And I need time."

Mahmoud was silent for a long moment. Then he nodded slowly. "Very well. You'll have access to the motor pool and a team of mechanics. But understand this: if you fail, there will be consequences. This is a matter of national importance."

"I understand," Karim said. "And if I succeed?"

Mahmoud smiled thinly. "Then you'll be rewarded, of course. The Ministry takes care of those who serve it."

Karim left the Ministry that day with a sense of purpose he had never felt before. This was his chance. This was his moment to prove that he was not a dummy, not worthless, not nothing. He was going to fix those trucks, and he was going to change his life.
